Strategy To Action Awards Recognition

STAARFollowing the successful launch in 2016, the STAAR Awards are once again a key feature recognising outstanding achievement in prevention and management approaches to behaviour that causes harm. The three award categories are:

  • Stop School Bullying Award
  • Healthier Workplace Award
  • Cyber Smart Award

This is your opportunity to showcase to the sector strategies and actions that you have undertaken within your school, workplace or community.

Who can apply?

The awards are open to organisations, institutions and schools across Australia active in strategies and management programs aimed at addressing and combating bullying, harassing and discriminating behaviour.

Presentation
The Award Presentation Ceremony will be held at the No More Harm National Conference on Monday 26 June 2017 at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Brisbane.

Important Dates

  • Nominations open Monday 3 October 2016
  • Nominations close Friday 29 April 2017

Entry Guidelines

  • An organisation is able to submit an entry in more than one category however selection criteria must be addressed for each category
  • For the purpose of these awards, the definition of ‘Organisation’ is broad and includes government and non-government agencies, not-for-profits, educational institutions, public and private companies etc

Online Entry

The online entry requires you to provide:

  • A brief overall description of your organisation and bullying program , for use in promotional material
  • A 300-word limit to each criterion
  • All selection criteria to be addressed as appropriate to the program; if a criterion is not relevant to the program state ‘not applicable’
  • Entries may include images and graphs etc to support response to selection criteria

Selection Criteria
Entries for the Awards should address the following selection criteria:

Strategy
Outline the underlying strategy driving your organisation’s bullying, harassment or anti-discrimination program

Best Practice
How does your program demonstrate best practice?

Process and Planning
How did you determine what changes were required to improve your business practices and/or better meet your school/workplace needs (for example, consultation processes, needs analysis, stakeholder requirements etcetera)?

Benefits
What are the benefits of the program? Who benefits and how?

Innovation
How does your program demonstrate innovation or deliver to community in terms of economic and social outcomes?

School / Workplace Needs
How are your school/workplace needs met by this project?

Outcomes / Achievements
Outline the outcomes and achievements delivered through the introduction and implementation of the program.

The Judging Process
Each Award category will be judged by the Advisory Committee with judging based on the submitted entry form (entrants do not present). Judging will be based on the material provided by you, within the online entry form.
